How to Use Policy Tree
Policy Tree presents debate as a flowchart, with each contention as an individual “leaf” on the “tree.” At the root of the viewable branch is the primary argument, and stemming out below it are all known substantiations and refutations of that position. Likewise, arguments flow from these arguments, and so on, resulting in a massive virtual map of the political discourse.
The purpose of Policy Tree is to provide a simple but comprehensive picture of issues. A typical user will browse or search for an issue of interest. The user is presented with a branch of the tree, the subject at its root. Any leaf can then be focused to examine its details and sources. The user can then travel down the tree if he or she wishes to study the issue in more detail, or climb up it to explore its causes and how it fits into the big picture.
